1. Are you in a position to fund your own fellowship?

Some graduating seniors are in a position to fund their own fellowship, through personal resources, grants, scholarships, etc.  If you are in this position, email Hal Roark at hal@braodmoorcorp.com to discuss a fellowship for 2009-2010.

2. Our Fellows work on a variety of tasks, all of which serve to improve the quality of life for our residents.  Positions for the 2009-2010 year include:

  • School Social Work Fellow: Providing clinical services during school hours and designing therapeutic partnerships during afterschool and weekend hours.   Michelle Wile, returning for a second year.

  • Keller Library Fellow: design public-private partnerships to best utilize the Keller library space, so Broadmoor can provide an array of services through the community center space.  Avram Penner, Tulane University '08
  • Urban Planning Fellow: overseeing Broadmoor urban planning initiatives, especially in the Broadmoor Education Corridor.   Kathleen Coverick, returning for a second year.
  • Volunteer Coordination Fellow: Supervise the volunteers who come to the neighborhood and locate landscaping and repair projects for them to complete during their stay in Broadmoor.   Ari Braverman, returning for a second year.
  • Andrew H. Wilson Education Fellow: Tutor high-need children at the neighborhood school, Wilson Charter School, and coordinate programming between the Broadmoor Improvement Association and Wilson Charter School.   Anna Putnam, Bard College '09
  • Charter School Marketing Fellow: Design materials for Wilson Charter School for fundraising, program development, and student recruitment as the school transitions from its temporary location to its newly renovated facility.  Eileen Zander, Notre Dame '09
  • Real Estate Development Fellow: Coordinate the Broadmoor Home Ownership Initiative through advertising programs, interfacing with buyers, and communicating with our developer, Green Coast Enterprises.   Alice Lee, Harvard College '09

4. Those interested in serving in New Orleans as Americorps volunteers should
apply to other local Americorps programs.
